Product Overview

More Than "Cleaner Diesel" —
An Enabling Technology

Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) at 10 ppm is the gold standard for automotive diesel in the UAE and globally. It is the mandatory fuel for all modern on-road diesel vehicles equipped with DPF, SCR, and DOC emission control systems.

ULSD is not just "cleaner diesel" — it's an enabling technology. Without it, the advanced emission control systems that reduce particulate matter by 99%+ and NOx by 90%+ simply cannot function. Using higher-sulfur diesel in a Euro 5/6 vehicle will poison the catalyst, clog the DPF, and cause thousands of dirhams in damage.

Important: Using diesel above 10 ppm in any vehicle with DPF or SCR will cause damage. DPF replacement: AED 8,000–25,000 per vehicle. SCR catalyst: AED 5,000–15,000+. Injector set for 6-cylinder: AED 9,000–24,000 in parts alone.

Why It Matters

The Sulfur Story — Why Low Sulfur Is Non-Negotiable

Sulfur in diesel damages modern aftertreatment systems and engine components in multiple ways:

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)

High-sulfur fuel produces sulfate particulates that cannot be burned off during regeneration — they accumulate permanently, clogging the filter. DPF replacement typically costs AED 8,000–25,000 per vehicle.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)

Sulfur poisons the SCR catalyst permanently, reducing its ability to convert NOx. SCR catalyst replacement: AED 5,000–15,000+. AdBlue/DEF consumption increases dramatically with poisoned catalysts.

Fuel Injectors (2,000+ bar)

Modern common-rail injectors operate with micron tolerances. Sulfur compounds cause deposit formation, spray pattern distortion, power loss, and increased fuel consumption. Single injector: AED 1,500–4,000. 6-cylinder set: AED 9,000–24,000 in parts alone.

High-Pressure Fuel Pump

Sulfur accelerates wear in precision pump components. Pump failure often sends metal particles through the entire fuel system — requiring replacement of pump, injectors, fuel rail, and complete system flushing.

Environmental Impact

10 ppm diesel produces 99%+ less SO₂ than 500 ppm diesel — a major contributor to acid rain and respiratory illness. ULSD enables DPF function (99%+ PM reduction) and SCR function (90%+ NOx reduction).

UAE Regulatory Compliance

UAE mandates ≤10 ppm sulfur for on-road diesel (Euro 5/6 equivalent). Using non-compliant diesel can result in vehicle impoundment at RTA inspection, warranty voiding, and potential fines for commercial operators.

Applications

Where ULSD Is Required or Recommended

Mandatory For
All Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel vehicles — trucks, buses, vans, SUVs, cars (registered UAE post-2016)
Any diesel vehicle equipped with DPF, SCR, or DOC — regardless of registration date
Vehicles operating in low-emission zones or on government contracts requiring Euro 5/6 compliance
Export vehicles destined for Europe, North America, Japan, Singapore, and other markets with ULSD mandates
Recommended For
Modern generators — especially those with emission control systems (increasingly common post-2019)
Marine engines with SCR systems (IMO Tier III compliance often requires ULSD or equivalent)
Any diesel engine still under manufacturer warranty — using non-ULSD may void the warranty
Construction equipment post-2019 with Stage V / Tier 4 Final emission systems
Commercial Trucks & Buses

Euro 5/6 trucks, delivery vans, coach buses, minibuses. With DPF+SCR, these engines achieve near-zero particulate emissions when supplied with ULSD.

Modern Construction Equipment

Stage V / Tier 4 Final excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers — from 2019+ with built-in DPF systems. ULSD is mandatory to maintain emissions compliance.

Generators with Emission Controls

Modern diesel generators in hospitals, data centers, and commercial buildings increasingly come with emission control systems requiring 10 ppm fuel.

Delivery

How We Deliver ULSD

Delivery ModeDetails

Quality Assurance

How We Ensure Every Litre Meets 10 ppm

Source Selection

We purchase only from refineries with demonstrated hydrotreatment capability and consistent quality records. We audit our suppliers' quality systems regularly.

Dedicated Logistics

Tanker compartments used for ULSD are dedicated or thoroughly cleaned between loads — preventing sulfur contamination from previous cargoes.

Sealed Delivery

Compartments sealed after loading. Seals verified by recipient before discharge — ensuring the fuel you receive is exactly the fuel we loaded.

Full Certificate of Analysis from accredited laboratory available within 24 hours of delivery upon request. Every parameter documented.

Pre-Load Testing

Rapid sulfur analysis using UV fluorescence (ASTM D5453) verified before loading where contractually required by the client.

Retain Samples

Samples retained for independent re-testing in the event of any quality concern. Samples held minimum 30 days or longer as agreed.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can I mix 10 ppm diesel with higher-sulfur diesel in my storage tank?
We strongly advise against it. Even a small amount of high-sulfur diesel will raise the sulfur content of the entire tank above 10 ppm. If this mixed fuel is used in a Euro 5/6 vehicle, it can damage aftertreatment systems and void warranties. If you need to switch between grades, drain and clean the tank first.
Is 10 ppm diesel more expensive than standard diesel?
Yes, typically by 3–8%, reflecting the additional refining cost of deep hydrotreatment. However, this premium is far less than the cost of repairing aftertreatment system damage from using higher-sulfur fuel. A DPF replacement alone can cost 100× more than a year of ULSD premium.
Can I use 10 ppm diesel in older pre-Euro 5 engines?
Yes. ULSD is fully backward-compatible with older diesel engines. Some very old engines (pre-1990s) designed for high-sulfur fuel may experience slightly reduced lubricity — this is addressed by lubricity additives in EN 590-compliant ULSD. If your equipment is very old, consult the manufacturer or our technical team.
How can I verify the fuel I receive is genuinely 10 ppm?
We provide a Certificate of Analysis showing sulfur content and other parameters upon request. For additional assurance, you can arrange independent testing of the delivered product or the retain sample we store for each major delivery.
